Rogers Cup Preview

It's been more than a month at the grass courts of Wimbledon since the top men have congregated in one tournament. This weekend they meet at Toronto for the start of Rogers Cup, the first big tournament heading into the final Grand Slam of the season, the US Open.

This is the first tournament for world no. 1 Rafael Nadal since winning his second Wimbledon title last month. He was on hand for the draw ceremony yesterday in which he saw himself on the same quarter as Americans Andy Roddick and Sam Querrey. Defending champion Andy Murray would be Nadal's likely semifinal opponent unless Robin Soderling has something to say about that.

On the other side of the draw, Roger Federer enters his tournament in almost five years not seeded either first or second. The now world no. 3 will look to have a rematch with the last player to defeat him, Tomas Berdych. Winner of that will likely meet Novak Djokovic or Fernando Verdasco.

Plenty of names I didn't mention, but don't be surprised if those people I've chosen not to list make it into the latter stages of the tournament. It's a good time right now for those players with the top players still getting their rhythm back after being away for so long.

Check out the full draw here.

Thanks for reading. Feel free to drop me a line. Instead of being Anonymous though, pick a name. Any name would do. Thanks again!
