Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead

"I'm right on top of that, Rose."

Wished I had known that Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead celebrated its 20th Anniversary today. If I did I would've re-watched it and probably could've written a better post, but alas it's been years since I saw it and so all I have are my hazy and fond memories of this absolutely charming film.

The film revolves around four kids who gets saddled with an overbearing and strict babysitter when their mom goes on vacation. Fortunately, she quickly dies, but in order to maintain their summer of freedom without adult supervision, the eldest played by Christina Applegate (Married with Children, Samantha Who?) get a job by faking her resume. As the film progresses, secrets are found, lessons are learned, and love conquers all. So it's not a masterpiece by any means, but I ate the film up when I was a wee one. Plus it's fun to look back at the early careers of not only Applegate, but Josh Charles (Sports Night, The Good Wife), David Duchovny (Californication, X-Files), and others as well.

Watch the trailer below. I also included a gratuitous picture of an adorkable Josh Charles. You're welcome.

Anyone else a fan of this film?
