The ceremony itself was highly enjoyable and seem to be getting almost universally good reviews throughout the blogosphere. A small part of that is surely due to the wonderfully singing-dancing-rapping host Neil Patrick Harris who really did do a lot and yet never encroached on the awards being given out. It's difficult to pick a highlight since everything he did was truly inspired--from his hilarious opening number to his duet with Hugh Jackman, from his 30-second Spider-Man joke fest to his freestyle rap to end the show. He even performed a number from Company with an all-star cast.
The other performances, mostly from all of the nominated musicals, were also fantastic. While Patina Miller and Sutton Foster blew the roofs with their numbers and Andrew Rannells delivered a showstopper, I was most impressed by Daniel Radcliffe who was singing and dancing with such ferocity and skill, it was like he's been in Broadway for years. Well done, young Harry.

Seriously, NPH should just host every awards show ever from here on out. He reminds me of Bob Hope that way.
ReplyDeleteHey Meltha! I can definitely see the comparison. He was just entertaining and professional all the way through. He wasn't fazed by anything, even Brooke Shields!
