AFI Top Ten Films/TV Programs of 2011

Why should critics have all the say? The American Film Institute also released their top films and TV shows of the past year over the weekend. And they are...

MOVIES OF THE YEAR

  • Bridesmaids
  • The Descendants
  • The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
  • The Help
  • Hugo
  • J. Edgar
  • Midnight in Paris
  • Moneyball
  • The Tree of Life
  • War Horse

SPECIAL AWARDS
  • The Artist
  • The Harry Potter Series

Nothing too crazy on their list. Even their populist choice of Bridesmaids is a favorite amongst critics. I've seen most of these except for Dragon Tattoo, War Horse, and The Artist. I expected Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close to show up here and was hoping for Drive as well. Also wondering what has happened to The Ides of March? Came and went without a peep, didn't it? Perhaps it was released a year too early?

TELEVISION PROGRAMS OF THE YEAR

  • Boardwalk Empire
  • Breaking Bad
  • Curb Your Enthusiasm
  • Game of Thrones
  • The Good Wife
  • Homeland
  • Justified
  • Louie
  • Modern Family
  • Parks and Recreation

This is a pretty good list and I'm ecstatic to see Breaking Bad and Parks & Recreation make the list. All in all, I only watch half of the shows on this list which doesn't say much about my self-proclaimed title of TV Obsessive. A bit disappointed that Fringe, Community, and yes Revenge weren't included, but hey at least Glee is nowhere to be found.

Thanks for reading. Feel free to drop me a line. Instead of being Anonymous though, pick a name. Any name would do. Thanks again!
