BAFTA Predictions

The British are coming... this weekend to be precise with the BAFTAs taking place this Sunday. One of my favorite things they do every year is to commission an artist to make posters for the Best Film lineup. Above are the designs for the two films I think will walk away with most of the hardware in a couple days. The other designs and a full list of my predictions are below:

Best Film: The Artist
Best Director: Michel Hazanavicius, The Artist
Best Actor: Gary Oldman, Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy
Best Actress: Meryl Streep, The Iron Lady
Best Supporting Actor: Christopher Plummer, Beginners
Best Supporting Actress: Jessica Chastain, The Help
Best Original Screenplay: Midnight in Paris
Best Adapted Screenplay: Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy
Best British Film: Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy
Best Foreign Language Film: A Separation
Best Documentary: Senna
Best Animated Film: The Adventures of Tintin

Best Film Editing: Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy
Best Production Design: Hugo
Best Cinematography: Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy
Best Costume Design: Jane Eyre
Best Makeup & Hair: The Iron Lady
Best Original Music: The Artist
Best Sound: The Artist
Best Special Visual Effects: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows II
Best Short Film: Only Sound Remains
Best Animated Short: Abuelas
Best British Debut: Paddy Considine, Tyrannosaur
Orange Rising Star: Eddie Redmayne

To be honest, this is the first time I'm actually predicting the winners for this award so I'm bound to get it all wrong most likely. For example, why Chastain over Spencer who has dominated this entire awards season so far? And despite all of its nominations, do I really think Tinker Tailor will get more awards than The Artist? Don't even get me started on the tech categories which were more or less shots in the dark.

  1. Same prediction as mine except for Best Supporting Actress where I think Octavia is unstoppable!
