Looking Forward To...

There always seems to be a weekend, or several, during the year where Hollywood seems to offer a bunch of movies I want to see. This upcoming weekend is one such weekend. First, there's Pixar's Brave and since the lauded studio sadly didn't release a film last year (Cars? I have no idea what you're talking about), it's been too long of a wait. With their first female solo protagonist in Merida, I'm hoping they deliver their usual goods and even hoping more than audiences reward them thusly.

But that's just one film opening this weekend I'm looking forward to. The three other films consist of a presidential vampire slayer, an apocalyptic road trip, and a lovely trip to Rome.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter
Distributor: Fox
Director: Timur Bekmambetov
Starring: Benjamin Walker, Mary Elizabeth Winsted, Rufus Sewell, Anthony Mackie, Marton Csokas, Jimmi Simpson, and Dominic Cooper
Synopsis: What about the title is confusing? It's Abraham Lincoln fighting vampires... with an axe.

Seeking a Friend for the End of the World
Distributor: Focus Features
Director: Lorene Scafaria
Starring: Keira Knightley, Steve Carrell, Adam Brody, Connie Britton, Rob Corddry, Derek Luke, Melanie Lynskey, Mark Moses, Rob Huebel, Gillian Jacobs, and Patton Oswalt
Synopsis: Two neighbors go in a road trip to reconnect with loved ones as everyone on Earth prepares for an asteroid to hit the planet. Think Melancholia, but funny.

To Rome with Love
Distributor: Sony Classics
Director: Woody Allen
Starring: Ellen Page, Penelope Cruz, Woody Allen, Alec Baldwin, Jesse Eisenberg, Greta Gerwig, Alison Pill, Judy Davis, and Roberto Benigni
Synopsis: A diverse group of well-spoken people having adventures in life and/or love in the beautiful city of Rome.
